Today, the Phillies announced that Mike Adams will be placed on the 15-day disabled list with inflammation of the right shoulder. This means that finally, my man Ken Giles will be called up from AAA Lehigh Valley. It’s a shame for Adams because he is 2-1 with a 2.12 ERA in 17 innings over 19 games, all in relief, for the Phillies this season.

We’ve long documented the rise of Ken Giles, and I have been personally following him since I came across an article in the Allentown Morning Call a few months ago about a pitcher in the Phillies minor league organization that throws 100+ miles per hour. It will be exciting to finally see him pitch in the major leagues.
